Your first visit at Affinity Wellness

Your first visit to Affinity Wellness is intentionally designed to feel clear, welcoming, and unrushed—so you can focus on what matters most: your health.

What to Expect When You Arrive

When you book your appointment—either online or with help from our front desk team—you’ll receive an online intake form and consent to complete ahead of time.

If the forms aren’t completed in advance, you’ll be asked to fill them out when you arrive for your initial appointment at our clinic in Kelowna, along with reviewing insurance and direct billing details if applicable.

This information helps your practitioner understand your full health picture and ensures your care is safe, personalized, and effective. We encourage you to be as thorough and honest as possible—every detail helps us support you better.

👉 Arrival timing

  • Please arrive 10–15 minutes early if you have not completed your paperwork online

  • Please arrive 5 minutes early if your forms are already completed

This ensures paperwork doesn’t take away from your one-on-one time with your practitioner.

Starting your massage session

Your massage therapist will review your form, meet you and take you to your treatment room. They will ask about the reason(s) you are coming for massage, your current physical condition and any specific areas you would like to focus on during your treatment. Your therapist will leave the room while you undress to your comfort level.

This varies for patients. Some prefer to remain partially clothed while others will completely disrobe. Either is fine. After undressing, you will lie under the top sheet on the massage table.

Your therapist will knock on the door to assure you are ready before re-entering the room.

You will always be draped with the top sheet and your therapist will only uncover the part of your body they are working on, ensuring your modesty is respected during your session.

Make the most of your appointment time. Your time starts as soon as you enter your treatment room. Try to be concise when discussing treatment with your therapist and disrobe quickly.

During your session

Start of your session

At the start of your treatment, your therapist will ask you to let them know if you are, at any time, uncomfortable during your session. Everyone is different. Communicate with your therapist regarding pressure or any other aspect which may improve your session. Your therapist will appreciate your feedback.

No pain, no gain? It is not true that massage therapy has to be painful to be effective. On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is no pain and 10 is extremely painful, the pressure should always be less than 7. Some of the most effective types of massage therapy are gentle and do not involve deep pressure or pain. In fact, too much pressure can cause muscles to seize up.

End of your session

Once your session is complete, your therapist will leave the room so you may re-dress. Depending on your treatment, your therapist may allow time to go over any recommendations, exercises or stretches. This time is included as part of your session.

Hydrating after your massage

One of the most important things you can do after a massage is to hydrate. Massage therapy releases toxins from your muscles, and hydrating helps to flush them out of your system. Drinking plenty of water will also help to keep your muscles healthy and prevent soreness. So make sure to drink up after your next massage!
